Dalmatians have several breed specific health problems. Not all Dals will have these problems, but it is good to know what you may be in for. The first typically seen one is deafness. Around 30% of Dals will be effected with hearing problems. BAER (brainstem auditory evoked response) testing may be done to check your dogs hearing.

Dalmatians have unique urinary tract system so they may develope urinary stones more easily, especially males. Urolithiasis can be fatal if not treated adequatly. It is best to ensure that your Dal has plenty of clean drinking water at all times to help prevent the stones.
