Recent labor studies indicate an increasing demand for support staff employees in a variety of computerized office or technical support environments. The Information Technology Business Systems and Software Management program at Western Texas College helps students train for a business or computer support career with emphasis on the latest computer systems and software.
A variety of courses are offered to give the student specialized training in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, web design, web marketing, presentations, desktop publishing, networking, operating systems, help desk, and computer center management. The graduate can easily fit within todays computerized business environment in any number of support positions. Successful completion of a two-year curriculum will qualify students for the Associate of Applied Science Degree. Or students may opt for a one year program offering a certificate as an Information Management Specialist or a Help Desk/User Support Technician.A variety of financial aid options are available to help you complete your chosen educational pathway. Enrolling is easy. Whether you are just completing your freshmen year in high school, a high school graduate looking for a fast track to a great job, or an experienced individual looking for a change in careers, you could be on your way to a brighter future soon. Our students range in age from teens through sixties (and beyond), and many have not attended school in a great many years. Give us a try. You will enjoy your learning experience!
The Information Technology Business Systems and Software Management department supports the Tech Prep program. Western Texas College is participating voluntarily in statewide Tech Prep. Western Texas College reserves the right to require students with articulated credit to take an entrance exam for placement into course curriculum. High school graduates can complete up to six semester hours for college during high school, and those courses will be applied to a degree in this program upon successful completion of a minimum of six (6) semester hours at Western Texas College.Degree and Certification requirements are subject to approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
